Beta Privacy Policy
1. Overview of Zero Personal Data Architecture
This Privacy Policy governs the beta test version of MathMastery (the "Beta Platform"). To ensure strict compliance with the Kenya Data Protection Act (DPA) and GDPR principles prior to our official regulatory registration, the Beta Platform operates on a Zero Personal Data Architecture. We do not collect, request, or store any direct or indirect personal identifiers.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
During the beta phase, we explicitly do NOT collect, process, or store the following data points:
- Names (first or last), dates of birth, or gender.
- Email addresses or physical/mailing addresses.
- Phone numbers or M-Pesa transaction codes.
- IP addresses (logs are masked or truncated at the server level to prevent indirect identification).
- Payment credentials or billing information.
3. Anonymous Credentials & Session Management
To access the Beta Platform, the system generates a random, non-identifiable 6-digit PIN. You are asked to provide any two letters of your choice (e.g., "A" and "B") purely to distinguish your session on your local device. These credentials do not link back to your real-world identity.
Session management relies exclusively on ephemeral, cookie-based session tokens that map only to the anonymous 6-digit PIN.
4. Algorithmic Processing (Bayesian Knowledge Tracing)
The Beta Platform utilizes predictive mathematics structures, specifically Bayesian Knowledge Tracing (BKT) and Spaced Repetition, to deliver adaptive tutoring pathways.
- Data Minimization: The analytical tables tracking student knowledge states map only to the anonymous database user ID.
- Purpose Limitation: These automated systems process your session's question inputs and response metrics solely to dynamically adjust math difficulty. They are never used to construct behavioral profiles of real-world individuals.
- AI Mentor Truncation: When transmitting raw text strings to our LLM API for hint generation, the application strips out any server metadata or user session contexts, sending only the isolated mathematical problem context.
5. Data Retention & Post-Beta Purge
The Beta Platform is temporary. Upon the conclusion of the 14-day beta window and the launch of the live production version of MathMastery, the following transition rules apply:
- Opt-In Migration: If a Parent/Guardian completes the live production registration (which requires full identification and VPC) and explicitly chooses to migrate the student's beta progress, the anonymous historical math data will be linked to the new profile. At this exact millisecond, the data falls under our primary Privacy Policy.
- Automated Purge: If you choose not to migrate the data, or if the account is abandoned, all historical performance records tied to the anonymous 6-digit PIN will be permanently and irreversibly purged from our databases within 30 to 60 days of the beta closing.
6. Your Rights During Beta
Because no personal data is collected, statutory rights regarding data access, correction, or erasure under the Kenya DPA are technically moot during the beta phase. However, you retain the right to abandon the beta test at any time by simply ceasing to use the platform, which guarantees your session data will be caught by the automated 60-day purge.
